The department of Mathematics, as one of the oldest and the most vibrant unit of research in Sacred Heart College, has initiated this association with Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antonyraj, the Principal as its chairman. This is a forum to bring all the mathematicians under one umbrella (both national and international) for collaboration and networking in the field of research and publications. The association has already 250 life members registered within a month of its inception.
The first general body meeting was held on 7th February, 2019 and was chaired by Rev. Dr. C. Antonyraj, the secretary of the college. It was stressed that the research and benefits of this society should be for the development of rural students. During the same meeting, the office bearers namely Dr. Britto Antony Xavier (President), Dr. Solairaju (Vice-President), Dr. Sadhasivam (Secretary), Dr. Hari Prabakaran (Treasurer) and other executive members were elected.
The society holds great promise for the future as many who are involved in research in institutions of high repute have offered willingness to be part of the society. It would also be of great benefit to the college as many rural students who take up research in Mathematics will benefit from the great expertise of its members and from all its collaborative initiatives.
Within ten months of its initiation, the society has come forward to organize an international conference on 27-29 January, 2019 with delegates coming from all round the globe.
Another big milestone of the society is to come forward to manage the online open access journal of the department of Mathematics, Sacred Heart College entitled “Journal of Computational Mathematica.” The journal has recently received the DOI index and has also enrolled itself in the Google scholar.
